  • Minimum quality requirements must be met depending on whether the flatware is silver plated, gold plated, base metal nickel.
  • The quality mark applied must truly and correctly indicate the quality of the precious metal.
  • The quality of the article must fall within the prescribed tolerances for plated flatware articles.
  • An acceptable quality designation must be used depending on whether the article is silver plated or gold plated. An acceptable designation must be used if the article is base metal nickel.
  • If the base metal of the flatware article contains less than 10% pure nickel by weight, then the flatware must bear the name of the base metal in conjunction with the trademark.
  • A legitimate trademark must be applied to the precious metal article.
  • The method of marking the trademark must be the same as the method applied to the quality mark.
  • Other marks applied to the precious metal article must not be calculated to mislead or deceive.
