Lack of dealer identity and bilingual labelling on an infant’s bunting bag

The Competition Bureau received a complaint in that an infant's bunting bag being sold in various retail stores did not comply with the labelling requirements of the Textile Labelling Act. The article lacked a dealer's name and address or a CA number on a sewn-in label. The information was printed only on the packaging material, and the fibre content disclosure was shown only in English. French is also required if the article is sold in bilingual areas of the country.

As a result of the Bureau’s investigation, the manufacturer agreed to resolve the matter by ensuring that future shipments display the correct information on both the label and the packaging.
