I am writing today to thank you for your invitation to contribute our views to the Competition Bureau's consultation on amending the Textile Labelling and Advertising Regulations of the Textile Labelling Act.

I have passed on your request and the discussion paper entitled Amending the Textile Labelling and Advertising Regulations to appropriate officials for their consideration and comment. Bearing in mind your deadline for submission of April 18, 2007, I have also requested that officials seek New Brunswick stakeholder input on the merits of the various proposals presented in the discussion paper.

The Province of New Brunswick has a small, but vibrant textile and apparel sector and we appreciate the opportunity to participate in the Commissioner of Competition's consultation which is intended to promote a fair, efficient and competitive marketplace in Canada.
