Life Coaching Services for Women

In , a company that distributes and sells life coaching to women sought a written opinion on whether its proposed multi-level marketing plan would raise concerns under the Competition Act.

Prior to the Competition Bureau examining the plan under the multi-level marketing and scheme of pyramid selling provisions of the Act, sections 55 and 55.1, the Bureau examined the coaching services offered and determined that they represented “training”.

It has been the Bureau’s policy not to issue written opinions in situations where the product of the plan is training because of the difficulty of establishing the value of the products. Such plans will be investigated if complaints are received.

Therefore, the Bureau denied the opinion in on the basis that the product of the plan was “training”.
