The fight against cancer is hard enough... don’t let fraud make it harder!

Like millions of Canadians, you might search the Internet for health-related information, including facts about cancer. While there is plenty of good information to be found at the click of a mouse, there is also much to cause concern. All too often, you are likely to find Web sites promoting cancer treatments or cures that are untested, fraudulent or just don’t work.

Be cautious about any site that promotes a "miracle" cure. Otherwise, you may end up being the victim of a scam that will cheat you of your time, money or, most importantly, health.

"Always talk to a health care professional before starting any new treatment"

The Competition Bureau launched Project False Hope to identify and stop online health fraud and to give you and those looking out for you the tools you need to recognize it.

Visit the Project False Hope Web page for tips on how to spot misleading or fraudulent treatments or cures. Always talk to a health care professional before starting any new treatment.
