Competition Bureau Reaches Further Agreements with Hot Tub Retailers on Unsupported Claims
Ottawa, — The Competition Bureau has reached settlements through consent agreements with two additional Canadian hot tub retailers who were making unsupported claims that their Dynasty Spas products were associated with the Energy Star Program.
Polar Spas (Edmonton) Ltd. and Sleepwise Inc. have agreed to stop making the claims and have issued corrective notices about their Dynasty Spa products.
Sleepwise and Polar Spas advertised that their products were Energy Star-certified; the Bureau determined that this was not the case. The Energy Star program is an international standard for energy efficient and environmentally friendly consumer products. No hot tubs or spas for sale in Canada are eligible for certification under this program.
In June, the Bureau announced that seven consent agreements had been signed with hot tub and spa retailers who had been making similar false or misleading representations about their Dynasty Spas products.
