2010 Merger Notification Transaction-Size Threshold

Ottawa, March 8, 2010 — The Competition Bureau advises that the merger notification transaction-size threshold for the 2010 calendar year will remain unchanged from the 2009 amount of $70 million.

In general, the Competition Bureau must be notified in advance of proposed transactions when the assets or revenues of the target firm exceed $70 million, and when the combined assets or revenues of the parties and their respective affiliates exceed $400 million. The threshold will be reviewed at the end of 2010 in order to determine the appropriate level for the 2011 calendar year.
