Clean Harbors Fulfills Terms of Consent Agreement
Ottawa, — The Competition Bureau is pleased to announce that Clean Harbors, Inc. has successfully fulfilled the terms of its consent agreement with the Bureau by divesting its Pembina Area Landfill in Alberta to Secure Energy Services Inc.
In , the Bureau reached an agreement with Clean Harbors, Inc. with respect to its proposed acquisition of Eveready Inc., requiring the divestiture of its Pembina Area Landfill. The Bureau had concluded that the transaction would likely substantially lessen or prevent competition in Class 1 solid hazardous waste disposal in Alberta.
Clean Harbors, Inc. is a US-based company that provides environmental waste services in North America. Eveready Inc. provided industrial maintenance, production, and environmental services to the energy, resources, and industrial sectors, primarily in Alberta.
