A company that engages in the direct–selling of jewellery, communication services, and natural products sought an advisory opinion in on whether its proposed multi-level marketing (MLM) plan would raise concerns under the Competition Act (the "Act").
Munami Inc.'s marketing plan included representations relating to compensation that were not accompanied by fair, reasonable, and timely disclosure of the compensation likely to be received by typical participants in the plan. The company made the necessary amendments to its marketing materials and policies, and as a result, the Bureau issued a positive opinion in which revealed no issues under sections 55 and 55.1 of the Act.
