Digital phone, wireless Internet and digital TV products

The operator of a proposed multi-level marketing plan for the supply of digital phone, wireless Internet and digital TV products sought a written opinion pursuant to s. 124.1 of the Competition Act (Act).

In June 2010, a written opinion was issued stating that the company's proposed plan raised no issues under the Act. The opinion highlighted an aspect of the plan that raised concern regarding compensation for recruitment. The Bureau determined that the plan focused on the supply of the product to non-participants rather than on recruiting prospective participants in the plan. Issues related to representations relating to compensation were addressed by the applicant earlier this spring. The Bureau does not have any outstanding issues with the plan.
