OTTAWA, September 20, 2012 — The Competition Bureau announced today that it has released its final Enforcement Guidelines on the Abuse of Dominance Provisions (Sections 78 and 79 of the Competition Act). The updated guidelines are now available on the Bureau's website.
In March 2012, the Bureau released draft guidelines for public consultation, and reviewed the comments received carefully, prior to finalizing them.
These final guidelines provide a concise overview of the Bureau's enforcement approach to the abuse of dominance provisions of the Competition Act. They replace previous guidelines and bulletins dealing with these provisions.
The Competition Bureau, as an independent law enforcement agency, ensures that Canadian businesses and consumers prosper in a competitive and innovative marketplace.
