Workshop on innovation and antitrust

October 30, 2014 — OTTAWA, ON — Competition Bureau

The Competition Bureau will be the proud host of a one-day workshop on innovation and antitrust on November 4, 2014. Held at the Ottawa Convention Centre, the workshop will feature speakers from business, academia and government, both domestic and international, who will discuss the role of innovation across various industries, explore the relationship between competition and innovation, and examine how innovation should best be assessed by competition agencies.

The purpose of the workshop is to advance the thinking regarding how innovation and dynamic competition should be assessed by competition agencies so as to better inform antitrust analyses, particularly in innovative industries. This will increase the Bureau’s knowledge in this important area of the Canadian economy, and thus enable it to better protect the marketplace and foster competition.
