April 28, 2015 — OTTAWA, ON — Competition Bureau
The Competition Bureau today published the final version of its Production of Electronically Stored Information guidelines on its website.
The guidelines set out the Bureau’s preferred standard format for receiving electronically stored information (ESI) in response to both compulsory and voluntary processes used during the course of an inquiry or investigation under the Competition Act.
The issuance of the guidelines supports the Bureau’s Action Plan on Transparency, which aims to promote a more cost-effective, efficient and responsive agency, while providing Canadians with more opportunities to learn about the Bureau’s work.
- These guidelines reflect the Bureau’s current preferences based on existing technologies used by the Bureau to process and review ESI.
- These guidelines benefitted from the input of the National Competition Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association and the Bureau sought public comments on the draft guidelines between August 26, 2014 and October 27, 2014.
- The Bureau continuously strives to carry out its mandate in the most efficient and effective means possible.
