Ottawa, October 10, 2007 – The Competition Bureau today published a new Information Bulletin covering the Immunity Program Under the Competition Act, together with a Policy Backgrounder setting out adjustments to the previous program and revised Responses to Frequently Asked Questions.
The new Bulletin replaces the original published in 2000. It sets out the Bureau’s current approach to recommending immunity for companies and individuals who admit having committed offences contrary to the Act, and who co-operate in the investigation and the prosecution of those offences. The Bulletin should be read together with the Responses to Frequently Asked Questions document for a complete picture of the Bureau’s approach to immunity applications.
The Immunity Program is one of the Bureau's most powerful tools for detecting, investigating and prosecuting cartels.
The Competition Bureau is an independent law enforcement agency. We contribute to the prosperity of Canadians by protecting and promoting competitive markets and enabling informed consumer choice.
