Competition Bureau Seeks Comments on the Draft Multi-level Marketing and Scheme of Pyramid Selling Information Bulletin

Ottawa, April 1, 2008 – Competition Bureau is seeking public comments on its revised draft Multi-level Marketing (MLM) and Scheme of Pyramid Selling Information Bulletin. The purpose of the revised draft bulletin is to provide guidance on the Competition Bureau's policies and procedures relating to the administration of the multi-level marketing and pyramid selling provisions of the Competition Act.

The revised draft bulletin describes differences between an MLM plan and a scheme of pyramid selling as outlined in sections 55 and 55.1 of the Act as well as the general principles and policies applied by the Bureau with respect to these provisions.
