Ottawa, April 25, 2008 - The Competition Bureau today published its Information Bulletin on Sections 15 and 16 of the Competition Act, which outlines the practices and policies of the Bureau as they pertain to the search and seizure provisions of the Act.
This Bulletin is part of the Bureau's ongoing commitment to develop enforcement and educational tools with a view to being more transparent and predictable in its application of the laws under its jurisdiction. It is intended to inform the business and legal community of the Bureau’s general approach to exercising its powers under sections 15 and 16 of the Act.
This publication follows a 2007 public consultation on a draft version of the document. Comments submitted by interested stakeholders were taken into account in finalizing the Bulletin.
The Competition Bureau is an independent law enforcement agency. We contribute to the prosperity of Canadians by protecting and promoting competitive markets and enabling informed consumer choice.
