Enforcement
guidelines are an articulation of the Bureau's
enforcement policy with respect to the various provisions of the Competition
Act, the Consumer Packaging and Labeling Act, the Textile
Labeling Act, the Precious Metal Marking Act and the Criminal
Code based on the Bureau's past experience, jurisprudence and accepted
economic theory. They are intended to provide a better understanding of the
intent of the provisions of these acts and the general approach taken by the
Bureau to enforce these provisions.
The general reports available in this section are studies commissioned by the Bureau from independent experts or a specific Branch within the Bureau. Topics include, but are not limited to:
gasoline pricing, Competition Act amendments and mergers.
Two other types of reports are also available:
The Annual Reports, for which the Commissioner is required under the
Competition Act to submit annually to the Minister of Industry on
"Proceedings Under the Act."
The Performance Management Report, that provides an overview of the
performance management of Industry Canada to the general public. The report represents a comprehensive, balanced and transparent
picture of the organization's performance for the past fiscal year.
Bureau Bulletins are also available and consist of policy
statements for the purpose of providing further clarity to the Bureau's
approach on a variety of different topics.
