St. Clair College is receiving funding under the Post-Secondary Institutions Strategic Investment Fund, which aims to reinvigorate Canada's research and science base, address existing infrastructure needs while contributing to Canada's long-term innovation and sustainability objectives.

National Powerline Training Centre

Program funding: $800,000
Total project cost: $2,077,285

The National Powerline Training Centre will train students for the energy industry. The Centre will provide a two year Powerline Technician diploma. Students will develop hands on skills in the installation of overhead and underground power distribution. Graduates will have the opportunity, through a partnership, to attain level I and II of the Powerline Apprenticeship.

St. Clair College Facilities Infrastructure Upgrades for Modernization and Environmental Sustainability Project

Program funding: $3,012,710
Total project cost: $6,184,217

The intent of this project is to address the increasing demand for renewal and modernization of current facilities infrastructure to support the increasing technological requirements of training programs and to address the need to upgrade existing and install new environmentally sustainable building components. This initiative includes upgrades to the electrical and mechanical systems, identified training centres and building components.
